Page history last edited by NMHS librarian 12 years, 10 months ago

Please add your summer reading lists or links to great lists online. Also add any other related information, such as what your school library is doing regarding summer services:  summer loans to kids, summer hours that your library is open, summer reading book blogs, etc.

Reading Lists

Here is the summer reading list for Richford Jr-Sr High School, from Annette Goyne:

Summer Services

In South Burlington, each of the three elementary school libraries will be open during the summer for four hours one day per week for from six to eight weeks, depending upon the school.  These summer programs will be generously funded by each school's PTOs.  At Orchard School, the hours will be on Wednesdays from 9 AM until 1 PM from June 22nd until August 10th.  Our library will be staffed by one of the library assistants.  We are truly fortunate to this programming available to our students!

We lend 50-100 books to the town library for the summer.  The librarian comes to choose what she'd like, and I take recommendations/requests from our students.  I check them out to the town library, we each have a list, and there hasn't been any problem getting books back at the beginning of the school year.

Each teacher in my middle school puts a list together based on the curriculum content.

My primary grades share the media center home page with parents. We have links to the caldecott, red clover, etc.

We just want kids to read so most titles are just suggestions.

Middle school students will be able to sign out items the last week of school for the summer. The whole community (students and adults) has  access to our collection by putting things on hold through the public library. We deliver the requested items to the public library weekly.
